Our Animals

Over 200 animals make their home at Waverly Farms, LC where they are cared for under the stringent standards of Animal Welfare Approved and range freely on chemical-free, lush Virginia pasture 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We never use growth hormones, GMO feed, preventive antibiotics or other potentially harmful ingredients. All of our animals enjoy only the best soy-free Certified Organic feed and minerals from New Country Organics, also located in Virginia.

We are committed to preserving endangered species, such as Spanish Goats, American Guinea Hog, Auracana hens. During any month, visitors may encounter new chicks, baby lambs or goats, or, most recently, kittens! Here are some of the animals we care for every day:

  • Spanish and Savanna goats
  • Katahdin hair sheep
  • American Guinea hogs
  • A variety of hens and roosters
  • Llamas who guard our sheep and goats
  • Horses just to ride
  • Barn Cats

Multi-species rotational grazing has proven to be healthy for animals and their pastures. By feeding the highest quality Certified Organic ingredients and letting animal share pastures, parasites and disease are reduced naturally, resulting in significantly reduced need for fertilizers or treatments.
